Tony Bennewith founded A J Bennewith & Co in 1986, having previously been a partner for the Guildford office of Neville Russell (now Mazars). With 15 years at Neville Russell under his belt, he stepped out on his own to look after a number of existing local clients. Tony has now formed Bennewith 2018 Limited and has brought Chrissie, one of his daughters, on board. Tony is a director of SESCA (South Eastern Society of Chartered Accountants) and represents other accountants. Tony enjoys skiing and walking in his spare time.

Chrissie is a Director of Bennewith 2018 Limited after training as a Chartered Accountant as her second career. Chrissie is a STEP Affiliate studying for an Advanced Diploma in STEP. She is President of SECASS (South Eastern Chartered Accountants Student Society) and a member of SESCA (South Eastern Society of Chartered Accountants). Chrissie is a Council Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW.
Chrissie has 5 children, chickens, dogs and a cat and enjoys spending time with them all.

Chris joined the company in 2005 after graduating with a degree in Accounting and Finance from Exeter University. Chris qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2010. He works primarily on audits and larger charity accounts. Chris enjoys playing golf and travelling in his spare time.

Anne joined the team in 2014 and has many years’ experience in accounting, auditing and bookkeeping as well as hands-on experience as the accountant for a local charity. Anne qualified as a Chartered Accountant with a mid-tier firm. In her spare time she enjoys walking and is an avid reader.

David is our latest ACA trainee. He joins us as a qualified bookkeeper with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT). He also has a degree in Business Administration. Outside of work David’s diverse passions include cinema history, supporting Newcastle United F.C. and being amused by his two young children.

Laurence is one of the newest members of the team. He joined after graduating with a Masters in Accounting, Finance & Strategy Investment from the University of Newcastle. When not at work he has a passion for running and any outdoor activities including rock climbing.
Chas joined us in 2022. Originally from Sri Lanka, she has an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Finance from ICASL. Chas has many years of experience in bookkeeping and payroll. She enjoys her leisure time with her three kids, baking, and watching cricket.
Carol has been at A J Bennewith & Co since its inception in 1986. She has played a vital role in many aspects of the business. She lives in Godalming, has three children, four grandchildren and her interests include performing in the Wintershall plays, theatre-going, trekking and bridge.
Max is a part-time volunteer at A J Bennewith & Co. He is often rewarded with a biscuit for his friendliness. He keeps Tony company on his walk to and from work along the riverbank to Godalming. When in the office Max is there to welcome visitors with enthusiasm.
